I have been here for three days (after a few days in Paris) and love every bit of it. The culture, the people, and especially the scenery. It is so beautiful!
This is my first time being far away from home by myself, and to say the least I am a little nervous. I like being independent, but I still don't know what it feels like to be completely independent, but that is why I am here. I am planning on staying the whole summer so we will see how far I make it.
Paris was a little rough since I was all alone in a place I had never been to and I was jet lagged, but I still survived! The hardest part was that I didn't know ANY French so I assume that communicating with my host family will be easier, even with my limited Spanish. I will know that even though it is difficult to talk with them, that it could be worse.
I am a little nervous to meet my host family and I really hope they are a family and not just a married couple or single woman. I love kids and I think it will be much easier to break the ice if I can talk to the kids and the parents.
I think classes will be easier for me than they were at home since I will be forced to use the language and not just asked to. I really had a difficult time practicing spanish at home and I know that this experience will be a success!
I have posted my experience thus far on my personal blog @ rwar889.tumblr.com so please check that one too!
Adios!
Rachel
